Adam Richard Grzelak (born December 1, 1989) is an American professional baseball pitcher currently playing for the Ottawa Capitals of the United States Baseball League (USBL). He stands at 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds. He bats and throws right-handed.

Life and career[]

Grzelak was born in Monroe, Michigan on December 1, 1989 to Peter and Deborah Grzelak. His family is of Polish descent. He attended Monroe High School in Monroe, Michigan, where he pitched and also played outfield, and he was high school teammates with Logan McLaughlin. Grzelak played college baseball at Ohio State, and was drafted in the 1st round, 16th overall in 2009 by the Ottawa Capitals.

Grzelak has spent his entire career with Ottawa and has been the ace of their rotation for multiple seasons. While his strikeout numbers have dropped considerably from what they once were, he still manages to keep his ERA around the 2.50-3.00 range. Grzelak has never had an opponent batting average (OBA) of above .240 in a season, nor has he had a WHIP of above 1.15.
